It has a bajillion textures and brush textures, extra textures for canvas too. So if sai 2 crashes it'll boot up the backup save, so you won't lose any progress. Sai 2 has a system that saves a backup of the drawing file currently loaded up on the program in the background. Doesn't seem to really lag at all to me either. From my personal experience I have not experienced any bugs from my over 6 months of usage, and no it's not prone to boot people's butts off the program. So if you were to switch it's easy to get into the swing of things. Interface wise, there are a few differences however they're pretty much the same. It's probably not what you meant, I'm dumbo woops If by stability you meant pen stabilizer- the stabilizer in sai 2 is superior (according to updates anyways)

layer & brush modes < pretty convenientįor the stamp like brushes see this journal: Paint Tool SAI 2.0 with actual BRUSH!!! Reply

No problems with saving/loading (but default is non-transparent) Also you can now add text directly in SAI 2, so no need to switch to Photoshop to add a watermark! It also has rulers (different kinds I think, I don't use these), shapes (circle, square, etc I don't use these either), and gradients (straight gradient and circle gradient, very convenient too)

Because of the stamp like feature there are more configuration options for the brushes, and there's now a small preview window for how the brush looks (which also is dope af, because before I used to have to try out the settings)Īnd a few other things, that I liked a lot: I used to have to switch to Photoshop for adjustments, but SAI 2 now has gaussian blur, and more layer modes (almost as many as Photoshop and also brush modes in the latest version). Especially the latest version that I spoke of above. The only thing I'm low key annoyed with is the fact that new canvases are by default "white background", and if you want to save transparent pngs you need to go to canvas, background color, and select transparent (I always run into this trap, when I try to save transparent pngs and then wonder why it isn't transparent.) But unless you exclusively save in png and don't use sai files, this isn't a major problem. I also haven't had any issues with loading and saving. No I haven't experienced any bugs with my SAI 2 (I haven't tested the 20180920 version in dept yet since I updated just yesterday), and it's still pretty lightweight (i.e. I just found out about this yesterday but as of the very latest version of Sai 2 (20180920) they offer custom brushes! I don't mean those stupid textures that don't look all that good, but actual stamp like brushes like in photoshop! I don't know if the others before me mentioned it, but it's fairly new so not everyone knows about this feature I think.Īside from that.
